The musicians of Imbroglio came together through free improvisation, but each carries a distinct musical background — ranging from Turkish classical music to noise, by way of contemporary music.

In these times of identity-based tension and pressure to belong without nuance, Imbroglio’s music becomes an electroacoustic conversation (sometimes a heated one!) six voices in a single head. A four-headed hydra, the magnetic tapes act as alter egos for each acoustic voice. They hear everything, record everything! But surreptitiously, they introduce difference loops of fixed ideas, distortions in the discourse. Our own voice answers us in mimicry, buried thoughts resurface… The moment an idea is expressed, we no longer control it, we are already no longer ourselves.

But who are we, if not the sum of our voices?
